Local Leader Makes
Presentation at
U.S. Justice Department National Conference
December
22, 2003 – Dayton, OH – Marc
R. Levy, President of the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area,
presented the workshop, “Study Circles: Use
in Police/Community and Racial Relations,” at the
Value-Based Initiative Conference: Building a Better Future
held in Kansas City, Missouri. The U.S. Department of Justice
Office of Community Oriented
Policing Services (COPS) sponsored the conference.
Attendees included Value-Based Initiative site participants and
other contributors to faith-based institution/law enforcement
partnership programs.
Levy
formerly served as president of United Way of Allen County in
Fort Wayne, Indiana. Under his leadership there, the United
Way was instrumental in establishing Police/Community Study Circles
as part of its Task Force to Undo Racism. Levy and the
United Way of Allen County won numerous diversity awards for that
initiative and related efforts.
