Numbers Lend a Hand for United Way Community Care Days
Dayton,
OH - Friday, June 2, 2006 – Today more than 700 volunteers
are lending a hand to local nonprofit agencies and their clients
in Montgomery, Greene and Preble Counties as part of United Way
Community Care Days. Over the next several weeks as projects wind
up, that number will exceed well over 800 volunteers from more than
50 area companies, along with neighborhood groups, schools, scouts,
churches, and individuals.
The
volunteers are cleaning up urban neighborhoods, and making repairs
and landscaping at homes of rural and suburban senior citizens.
At United Way Partner Agencies, they are making improvements and
brightening up client areas with fresh coats of paint. Other roles
include sorting donated goods, organizing a library for victims
of family violence, and helping to turn an old house into a homeless
shelter.
David
Kinsaul , 2006 Campaign Chair and President and CEO, The Children's
Medical Center, will join Marc Levy , President and CEO, United
Way of the Greater Dayton Area for a news conference
at 2:00 p.m. at Dayton Christian Center , 1352 W. Riverview
Avenue to showcase one of the 50 Community Care Days projects.
“Your
local United Way is about engaging our community
on behalf of a network of health and human services, and today's
activities showcase the power of working together,” Levy said. “Volunteers
are working in a united way to accomplish projects that
the agencies and clients would otherwise lack the resources to get
done.”
Kinsaul
