Mission
Statement History Mercy Manor was the dream of Sister Jean Foppe, the coordinator of the Montgomery County Volunteer Jail Chaplaincy program. She saw the need to have a transitional housing unit for women recently released from prison. She took her dream to Church Women United of Greater Dayton, an organization made up of women from a broad spectrum of denominations and backgrounds - women eager to serve, and empower women in their community. They immediately embraced this task and in 1992 this dream became a reality. Regardless of age, race, religion, education or background the doors were open to assist women as they made the transition from prison to a free life. In the past years the program has expanded greatly to meet the ever increasing needs of this population. Today we are servicing more than 100 women. Our statistics show that seventy-five percent of these women are successful - living drug free lives, employed, and reunited with their families. Mercy Manor is a non-profit organization.
