Sample Letter from the CEO

Dear Employee:

One of the reasons (Company) is successful is teamwork.   As a team we gather our individual strengths to accomplish more than we can do alone.

When it comes to giving back to our community, I can think of no organization better to team with than United Way.   And, your help is needed now more than ever to make our community a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

As you know, there is a growing gap between the needs in our community and the resources to meet them.   Government funding is shrinking, yet the needs in our community are growing.

The United Way raises money on behalf of a core safety net of local services – addressing problems that affect your family, co-workers, and neighbors.   Collectively, United Way funded programs help nurture and develop youth; build strong, self-sufficient families; promote healthy lifestyles, provide independence for seniors and people with disabilities; and encourage safe and supportive neighborhoods.

You can rest assured that every dollar raised through United Way stays here making a difference in people's lives.   United Way and its partner agencies are vigorously reviewed by local volunteers for financial integrity and measurable results.   That's why I give to our United Way campaign and why I hope you will do the same.   Please keep in mind that it's not important how large or small your gift is; what matters is that you care enough to want to help your community.

Our employee campaign begins on (date).   (ECC's Name) has agreed to be our campaign coordinator, and I look forward to a great campaign to help people in need.   Together, we get to the heart of what matters.

Sincerely,

Sample Letter from Employee Campaign Coordinator:

Dear Employee:

Long ago, we learned the value of teamwork.   We learned that, by working with others, we could do much more than we could do alone.   Please join me in supporting the United Way this year during (Company Name's) Campaign and help our team give back to our community.

United Way of the Greater Dayton Area is a model of teamwork.   When we give through the United Way, we help improve more lives in more ways than any other local charity.   United Way supports a core safety network of services by funding more than 100 vital programs that help our neighbors in need.

For example:

•  474 elderly and disabled individuals received transportation to medical appointments and other important destinations by Golden Age Senior Citizens Center.

•  1,678 youth participated in safe and supportive after school and summer programming at the Dayton Boys and Girls Club.

United Way funded programs and services touch so many of us that often times we take it for granted that the services are available.   However, there is a growing gap between the needs and the resources to meet them.

Fortunately, we have our jobs and families for support, but many people in our community do not have anywhere to turn, except United Way.   Our help is needed now more than ever and every gift, regardless of how big or small, makes a difference.

This is your United Way…please help.   Thank you.

Sincerely,

Employee Campaign Coordinator

Sample Letter to Labor Employees:

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Organized Labor has long believed that the future of the labor movement is linked to the health and welfare of the entire community.   Your union membership shows that you care about your family's welfare and the welfare of your coworkers.

United Way of the Greater Dayton Area is a long-time partner with labor in caring for our community.   United Way funded programs nurture and guide children, help the elderly and disabled live with dignity and independence, assist the homeless and families in crisis, protect victims of abuse, lift up people seeking employment through job training programs, and provide health education, and many other services for people in need.

United Way touches so many of us that often times we take the services for granted.   However, there is a growing gap between the needs and the resources to meet them.

Fortunately, we have our jobs and families for support, but many people in our community do not have anywhere to turn, except United Way.   Our help is needed now more than ever and every gift, regardless of how big or small, makes a difference.
