United
Way to Tip Off 2007 Campaign at Fraze
Coach Brian Gregory Serving as Honorary Campaign Chair
Dayton, OH, August 30, 2007 -
University
of Dayton Men's Basketball Coach Brian Gregory, serving as the 2007
Honorary Campaign Chair, will "tip off" this year's United Way Campaign
tonight at the Fraze Pavillion. A sellout crowd is expected for the
event - a benefit concert starring the Funk Brothers, the legendary
studio band of Motown, with Dayton's own Tomust and the Serious Young
Musicians. This is the third annual United Live Concert for Community,
but the first time that United Way of the Greater Dayton Area brought
in a national act. "Motown
gave the world music that carries a message abour respecting and
celebrating diversity," said Marc R. Levy, United Way President. "In
this spirit, United Way of the Greater Dayton Area is proud to bring
the original Motown sound to our community." At the
concert, Gregory will annouce the 2007 Campaign goal of $12 million.
The local campaign supports 84 health and human service organizations
in Montgomery, Greene and Preble Counties. Last year, $11.8 million was
raised and 236,871 people received United Way funded services, over
22,000 more that the year before. United Way officials anticipate the
number of residents in need of services will continue to grow this year
as the community continues to undergo the current economic transition. United Live was sponsored by 92.1 WROU, WHIO TV, Qbase, Dayton Daily News, and Novak and Associates.
